ABOUT US

Elkanah Evans (Site Manager) is a graduate from Aberystwyth University where he studied Media and Communications. After three years in University, Elkanah has come home to take on the new responsibilities of the eco-campsite. Elkanah is very aware of the impact climate change is having on the rural environment and is dedicated to providing a new, low carbon experience for holidaymakers looking to spend a few days on the quiet and fresh campsite at Clydfan, free from cars and campervans.

He is a keen outdoorsman who enjoys regular cycling, hiking and has plans to develop the site as a part-production of home produce to be used within the business. Elkanah enjoys music, reading and playing the guitar.

Elkanah’s partner Isobel is studying creative writing at Aberystwyth University.

She hopes to join Elkanah in the business in 2024.

Isobel is from Bude in Cornwall and has worked for several years alongside her University degree in the tearooms at home.

She makes exceedingly good cakes and scones and has plans to start up a small cake business alongside her aspirations as an emerging writer. She has written some wonderfully enchanting stories, poems and short tales that can be viewed here.

Isobel is also a keen ecologist and animal lover with strong beliefs on preservation and environmental awareness. She keeps a wide variety of animals at her home in Cornwall at present including two Ducks, four Geese, a number of chickens and two domestic Cockatiels.

Between them both they hope to introduce a small selection of animals to provide some of the food for the site and the family. Isobel hopes to use the on-site cabin in the off-peak as a place to launch her writing career from.

Noah Evans is a partner in the business and is currently serving in His Majesty’s Royal Navy. Noah was home schooled and studied engineering at Coleg Sir Gar. He loves camping and playing guitar and singing. His sea shanty repertoire is called upon sometimes at the local pub.

His journey through the Navy is celebrated by family and friends and we are immensely proud of his achievements so far. His contributions to the business are gratefully received and we always look forward to when we have him home on leave.

Clydfan is a large family home situated in the small village of Cynwyl Elfed. The home has only ever had two owners from the time it was built over a century ago. We bought it in 2022 and set about renovating the house and the grounds which border the river Nant Gochen a non tidal river, which runs away from the property on a stone bed. The grounds were overgrown with hawthorn and brambles.

We brought in the Urban Horseman who used a shire horse to clear the land using hand tools and old techniques for hedge laying. We created a full sized grass tennis court/games area alongside the stone walled garden. In 2023 we installed solar power to run the home and the surrounding buildings including the log cabin.

The owners of Clydfan Alan and Angharad Evans have had careers in teaching working at some of the top schools in the UK as well as for the Saudi Arabian Royal Family.

Alan left teaching in 2000 and began a career in the media industry eventually staring one of the first hyperlocal news sites in Wales. Alan also wrote children’s reading books, one of which was endorsed by Friends of the Earth (The Last Whale). A keen ecologist Alan has always sought ways to reduce his carbon footprint and for many years only owned a bicycle to travel long distances to work.

Angharad Evans has worked for the Saudi Arabian Royal Family as a governess in the UK and abroad. She recently took up a post with the local Health Board and is mum to four children, Poppy, Elkanah, Noah and Theia. Angharad has a love of reading and art. She has also pioneered cooking organic food for babies having made it for her own children before it became fashionable. She is also a keen supporter of breast feeding and home education.

We hope you have gained some valuable information on the people who run the campsite and we all look forward to providing you with a very warm Welsh/Celtic welcome to Clydfan.
